Daniel Craig Gained 20 Pounds of Muscle for the Role

You might be shocked to know that Daniel Craig was not born with a body like this because he makes it look so easy. In reality, he had to prepare himself physically for the role by adhering to a strict diet and fitness regime. By quitting smoking, eating mostly proteins, and vigorously training all days of the week, with some sessions as long as 12 hours, he achieved the James Bond physique we know from the movie.

One of The Most Famous Scenes Was an Accident

We all remember that legendary scene where Bond walks out of the water and makes eye contact with the villain’s wife, right? Well, it turns out that it was an accident. Daniel Craig has stated that originally he was supposed to float off in the water, but because he hit an awkwardly situated sandbank, he had to stand up and walk out of the water. This scene went on to become the main image in the promotional materials. Many viewers thought the scene was paying homage to Ursula Andress in the first Bond movie, which helped win over many fans.

One Stunt Entered into the Guinness Book of World Records

During one afternoon of shooting the barrel-roll scene, three Aston Martin cars were destroyed, each worth $300,000. It was totally worth it, though, because the Aston Martin DBS barrel-roll stunt was officially entered into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006.

The original specifications of the Aston Martin DBS stated that a standard ramp would not be enough to make the car roll, so an air-powered cannon was installed behind the driver’s seat. This made the car roll seven times, which became record-breaking.

Even though after Daniel Craig’s portrayal of James Bond, it’s hard to imagine anyone else in his place, it could have easily been someone else.

Besides Daniel Craig, another actor that almost got the part was Henry Cavill. However, being only 22 years old at the time, he was believed to have been too young. The producers also considered Sam Worthington, Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor, and Karl Urban, to name a few. Hugh Jackman was offered the part, but he turned it down due to his commitment to shooting an X-Men film. Not many people know that Daniel Craig also turned down the role, at first, worrying that the movie will follow a standard pattern. But after reading the finished script, he changed his mind.
